Course lesson

Module opener that tells learners what they will be able to do.

By the end of this lesson you'll be able to read a balance sheet and say, in one sentence, whether the company can pay its bills next month. We'll use one real example throughout, and you'll do the last one yourself before we check it together.

Lesson recap

Closes a module by naming the three things worth remembering.

Three things to take with you. Assets minus liabilities is equity, and that relationship never breaks. Profit is an opinion; cash is a fact. And a company can be profitable and still run out of money — which is what the next lesson is entirely about.

About the Grace voice

Grace is a storytelling voice with genuine weight to it — measured, warm and comfortable holding a listener across a long passage. She is the premium tier's answer for narration that has to sound like a person who has read the thing before, and she carries authority without becoming stern.

The engine behind this voice

MiniMax speech-2.8 turbo is the premium tier: a commercial model with more character than the free engines and the widest language range here — sixteen, including Indonesian, Vietnamese, Turkish and Thai, none of which the free tier reaches. It takes up to 5,000 characters per request, adjusts from 0.75× to 1.5×, and returns MP3 or WAV. Longer text is split at sentence boundaries and joined back into one file.

What Grace costs

Grace is a premium voice, billed at 10 credits per 1,000 characters from a one-time credit pack. Credits never expire — there is no subscription and no monthly reset, so a pack bought for one project is still there for the next one.

A free account is required for paid voices, and every one of them previews before you spend anything. If the free tier does the job for your script, use it; the paid tiers exist for the cases where it audibly does not.

Best for

What Grace is good for

  • Audiobook and long-form narration where the voice is the product
  • Documentary and brand storytelling
  • Phone systems and IVR for businesses that care how they sound
  • Multilingual projects — the premium engine covers languages the free tier does not

Limits

Where Grace is the wrong choice

Weight is the whole point and also the limit: on light, playful or fast copy she sounds like she is taking it too seriously. Leo is the premium voice for anything upbeat.

If Grace is not quite right

  • Leofriendly, upbeat — the same price as Grace, with a different character. Worth previewing back to back before you commit a whole script to either.
  • Joshdeep, narration, on the ultra tier. The step up is naturalness under close listening rather than a different personality — worth it for client work, usually not for a first draft.
  • Harperamerican, clear, and free. If your script does not need what you are paying for here, this is where to check first.
