Course lesson

Module opener that tells learners what they will be able to do.

By the end of this lesson you'll be able to read a balance sheet and say, in one sentence, whether the company can pay its bills next month. We'll use one real example throughout, and you'll do the last one yourself before we check it together.

Lesson recap

Closes a module by naming the three things worth remembering.

Three things to take with you. Assets minus liabilities is equity, and that relationship never breaks. Profit is an opinion; cash is a fact. And a company can be profitable and still run out of money — which is what the next lesson is entirely about.

Audiobook passage

Narrative prose, to hear how a voice handles description and pace.

The house had been empty for eleven years, and it had the particular stillness of a place that has stopped expecting anyone. Dust lay on the banister in a way that suggested nobody had run a hand along it in a very long time. She did, once, on the way up, and felt slightly guilty about it.

About the Aria voice

Aria is the most expressive of the ultra voices, and the one that handles emotional range rather than merely reading cleanly. She lifts and drops within a paragraph the way a person does, which makes her the choice for copy that has to move someone rather than inform them.

The engine behind this voice

ElevenLabs Multilingual v2 is the reference point the industry is measured against, and what it buys is consistency under scrutiny — it does not fall apart on a difficult sentence. This endpoint accepts only text and voice, silently discarding format and speed, so both controls are hidden here rather than offered and ignored. It takes up to 5,000 characters per request and reads at a fixed pace. Longer text is split at sentence boundaries and joined back into one file.

What Aria costs

Aria is a ultra voice, billed at 20 credits per 1,000 characters from a one-time credit pack. Credits never expire — there is no subscription and no monthly reset, so a pack bought for one project is still there for the next one.

A free account is required for paid voices, and every one of them previews before you spend anything. If the free tier does the job for your script, use it; the paid tiers exist for the cases where it audibly does not.

Best for

What Aria is good for

  • Advertising and campaign scripts that live or die on delivery
  • Character work and dramatic reads
  • Multilingual projects needing one expressive voice across languages
  • Anything where a competent read is not enough

Limits

Where Aria is the wrong choice

Expressiveness is a risk as well as a feature: on plain informational copy she can add feeling the script never asked for. MP3 only and fixed speed, same as the other ultra voices.

If Aria is not quite right

  • Joshdeep, narration — the same price as Aria, with a different character. Worth previewing back to back before you commit a whole script to either.
  • Rachelcalm, professional. Reach for this one when Aria is close but the register is not quite right.
  • Skyexpressive, energetic, and free. If your script does not need what you are paying for here, this is where to check first.
