About the Nova voice
Nova is the entry point to the paid tiers, and the step up is in naturalness rather than character: fewer of the small artefacts that mark synthetic speech, better handling of clauses and commas, more convincing breath. She is the voice to try when the free tier is close but not quite passing as human.
The engine behind this voice
Fish Audio's s1 is the first paid step, and it buys the details that give synthetic speech away: clause handling, breath placement, and the artefacts a free model produces on an awkward sentence. It also covers German, Korean, Arabic and Russian, each verified by generating a sentence and transcribing it back. It takes up to 5,000 characters per request, adjusts from 0.75× to 1.5×, and returns MP3 or WAV. Longer text is split at sentence boundaries and joined back into one file.
