About the Vikram voice
Vikram is the lowest and the quickest of the Hindi voices — the same test sentence runs roughly 1.8× shorter through him than through Aditya. That combination, a low register delivered at pace, is the one thing the free Hindi pack has no answer for: Arjun and Rohan are both mid-register and steady.
Why a Hindi voice, and not an English one
Vikram was trained on Hindi, which matters more than it sounds like it should. An English voice pointed at Hindi text will get the individual sounds roughly right and the rhythm completely wrong — stress in the wrong places, vowel lengths flattened, the melody of the sentence replaced with an English one. It is intelligible and it is immediately, unmistakably foreign.
