About the Meera voice
Meera is the first paid Hindi voice on the site, and she sits where Priya does not: composed rather than conversational, built to hold a listener through a long stretch without the brightness that makes short-form work. She reads Devanagari on the premium engine, which is a different model from the free Hindi pack rather than a graded-up version of it.
Why a Hindi voice, and not an English one
Meera was trained on Hindi, which matters more than it sounds like it should. An English voice pointed at Hindi text will get the individual sounds roughly right and the rhythm completely wrong — stress in the wrong places, vowel lengths flattened, the melody of the sentence replaced with an English one. It is intelligible and it is immediately, unmistakably foreign.
Hindi is also read here by Priya, Ananya, Arjun, Rohan, Vikram, Aditya — worth previewing side by side, since the difference between two voices in the same language is usually more useful than the difference between two languages.
The engine behind this voice

Where Meera is the wrong choice
She is a paid voice at 10 credits per 1,000 characters, and the free Hindi voices cost nothing — for casual or high-volume Hindi work Priya and Ananya are the sensible default, and Meera only earns her price when the delivery matters. Composure is also her ceiling: on excited or playful copy she reads flat, and Ananya on the free tier will sound better there.
